How do
I hire you for a specific date?
I realize
that babies do not care what day the doctor
says it "should be here"! One reason this
specialty is higher than the other areas is
that I will reserve one week before the due
date in case the baby comes early or stay
one week later than our date if the baby
comes late - you will have to pick up the
cost of the airplane change.
What
happens if...
I know that
expecting moms worry if the baby is way
before our scheduled contract date or way
after our ending date. IF I don't have a job
when you come exceedingly early or late, I
will gladly come to you or stay longer.
However, if I can't because of a job, I may
be able to help find you someone to hold you
over till I get there or to help after I
leave. I know most of the great baby nannies
out there and we do help each other when we
can.

Newborn Care Specialist
This
service provides care for your newborn. Whether you
have a single birth or twins, first child or second,
you have decided you would like to have some help
with this precious gift of life.
Some
moms know they will be going back to work and want
to make sure they can get all the rest they need and
enjoy this period of time alone with their new baby.
An baby nanny can help you organize the nursery,
keep the baby's laundry up, address those thank you
notes, provide feedings in the day/night (you decide
where you want the help and where you want to be in
charge) and provide infant care education including
how to establish a solid routine that will encourage
your baby to eat and sleep.
One of
my favorite things is helping parents learn how to
do that first bath! Or making sure mom is resting
and eating/drinking enough. If the mom chooses to
breastfeed, it is so important to include plenty of
fluids and proper nutrition.
Some
parents just want help at night and I do a 12 hour
night shift. In the morning while mom takes over I
can help with the baby's laundry. Most parents
consider the night shift to be 10pm to 10am. Even
breast fed babies can handle a night feeding after
the first 8-10 days to allow mom to have a full
night's sleep.
I am
also available for 24 hour care which is invaluable
if you do plan on going back to work. Length of stay
varies from 1 week to 6 weeks or longer. I have
grandparents who pay for the first week as their
present to the new parents too!
Rates
vary based on what you need but normally a full 24
hour rate is $250 and night time coverage is $175
for single births.
What
are some of the things you should consider when
hiring an infant care specialist? First, does she
have the experience to guide you to make sure these
first weeks of life are good stepping stones to
eating and sleeping? Do her references speak highly
of her? Will she care about you? The first
conversations whether through emails or phone
conversations will tell you if this is someone that
fits well with your personality. Since this person
will live with you, you want it to be someone that
you enjoy their company.
I am
always open to general questions concerning newborn
care through emails too.
I love all aspects of being a nanny but newborn care
is truly my passion!
